Concrete

A study of brutalist mass — Soviet-era housing blocks and civic buildings reduced to plane, edge, and shadow.

Monolithic concrete facade with repeating window grid in hard light

These buildings were poured faster than anyone could think about them, and they have spent fifty years being looked past. Photographed head-on and in flat northern light, the blocks stop being background and become what they always were: enormous drawings in grey.

There is no nostalgia here. Only mass, rhythm, and the patience of a material that outlives every opinion about it.
