The Baltic in winter — long exposures of a sea that gives nothing away, shot along the Curonian Spit.
The Baltic does not perform. It is a low, grey, patient sea, and in winter it empties of everything except weather. These photographs were made over two winters on the Curonian Spit, mostly with exposures long enough to let the water forget itself.
What is left when the sea stops moving is the horizon — the straightest line in nature, and the hardest one to earn.
